Purpose and Values

We are on a drive to become a preferred and sought-after supplier, sourcing partner, and service provider in the industries we serve – based on product quality and world-class service levels, not just our empowerment credentials.

Our core values and beliefs include setting and adhering to high safety standards and protocols, making sure that we do our utmost to fulfill all client requirements, maintaining transparency and openness in our business practices, developing a diverse and capable team within the business, and contributing to the upliftment and development of our local communities and South Africa as a whole.

Our History

Yonke Konke was founded in 2014 by Modise Sikhosana (Managing Director) and Thembisile Sikhosana (Financial Director). Originally, we focussed on the supply of tools, diesel, and other supplies to mines in Limpopo province, including the Canadian-owned Diamcor mine.

After trading for a while, we were awarded a three-year supply contract for De Beers Venetia Mine, helping us to gain traction in the industry.
This agreement came with an enterprise development opportunity that included mentoring and financial assistance. These two factors helped the business to grow and become more established.

During 2019 we expanded our offerings to include road safety and traffic management equipment suitable for use in mines, civil engineering and construction projects, and elsewhere.

Initial clients for this part of the business include:

  • DMI Minerals (a Canadian-owned mine)
  • Khabokedi Waste Management (one of the largest Waste Management companies in South Africa)
  • Umeme Africa Engineering (an Eskom Partner)

Since becoming involved in the mining and construction industries, we have gained valuable practical experience and built a network of industry leaders and experts. We draw on this experience and network to better serve our customers.

We have also started moving into servicing government departments and agencies (at all levels) and we were recently awarded a contract by the Thulamela Local Municipality (Thohoyandou, Limpopo) to supply and maintain all the tyres for their fleet of municipal vehicles.

As part of our diversification strategy and commitment to community upliftment, we have entered into joint venture partnerships with two leading South African businesses that provide mine plant equipment breakdown and maintenance services and waste and landfill management services.

Our JV partners provide technical know-how, training, and infrastructure while we focus on identifying capable, teachable people from disadvantaged communities = providing the manpower required for projects and creating opportunities for employment and community upliftment.

Within the next few months, we will start manufacturing our own range of traffic cones (750mm and 1.8m).

In 2016, due to our extensive product knowledge, De Beers (a company known for its stringent standards) invited us to help develop the standard for their 750 mm road cone.

Community Involvement and Development

We are committed to help uplift local communities and develop the local economy. As part of this commitment, we:

  • Financially support Pfulufelo, a local NGO/NPO that feeds and takes care of sick and elderly people in and around the Makhado/Vhembe area
  • Financially support another project that provides sanitary pads to disadvantaged schoolgirls in rural communities
  • Sponsor the local Vhembe Chamber of Commerce

ECommerce/Online Ordering

We have a presence on Takealot Marketplace and Makro Online, making it easier for smaller customers to access
our range of top-quality but competitively priced hand tools, supplies, and consumables.
